Ifconfig add an IP address

It’s easy, just run as root:

;ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.x netmask 255.255.255.0;

The example shows a class c address with a common subnet mask.

The example above also assumes eth0 as the example network adapter. Other common interfaces may be wlan0 for wireless cards on laptops.
